Hormone pellets are unlike any other hormone imbalance option out there as they are customized to target an individual’s specific hormonal needs. We utilize BioTE®’s approach to pellet therapy to provide hormone therapy for men. Pellets are bioidentical and similar to the hormones of the human body. Our Certified BioTE® Providers will then insert pellets beneath your skin; the pellets will then begin to dissolve over time, administering consistent hormone dosages for three to six months. Consistent doses are released into the bloodstream, making hormone pellet therapy often more effective than topical or oral therapies.
Within weeks many patients notice the positive effects of undergoing hormone therapy for men at our Weight Loss MD San Diego office. If you have a hormonal imbalance, chances are you are experiencing a myriad of symptoms for which there are few options that could provide relief.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is BioTE®?
BioTE® is a bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for men and women. Pellets are great alternatives to synthetic hormone replacement therapy. Studies have shown that pellets provide symptom relief at a faster and more successful rate than alternative, synthetic methods.
Common Symptoms include, but are not limited to:
- Reduced libido
- Low energy
- Feelings of depression
- Lack of energy
- Difficulty sleeping
- Difficulty losing weight, despite diet & exercise
Why are pellets better than creams, patches, shots or pills?
They are a pure hormone that is not metabolized by products going through the liver, stomach, or skin. This delivery system allows your body to use the right amount of hormone, as your body calls for it, as the blood flow surrounding the pellets pick up what is needed.
How do the pellets work?
Pellets are placed in your glute, in the fatty tissue beneath the skin. Pellets are better than patches and creams, due to the fact that they are under your skin. Pellets being under your skin allow the bio-identical hormones to be distributed through your blood stream 24/7, as your body needs them. With pellets, patients do not experience a “roller coaster” effect, due to the fact that the pellets are constantly providing your blood stream with bio-identical hormones.
Where do the pellets go?
Because they are pure hormone without synthetic ingredients or filters, they completely dissolve over time into the bloodstream.
How long do the pellets last?
Pellets have been known to last between 3-6 months. The life span of your pellets depend on your activity level, stress level and gender.
Does testosterone cause prostate cancer?
No! The contributors to prostate cancer and enlargement of the prostate include metabolites of testosterone, Dihydrotestosterone and estrone. Estrone increases and testosterone decreases as men age and gain belly fat. Testosterone pellets are the only replacement that reverses that trend?
How do I take testosterone pellets and not convert to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and estrone?
Your blood levels of estrone and DHT are checked after treatment to see if they are elevated. Some men, who are on testosterone pellets, convert these to metabolites. If they are converting, we troubleshoot with natural supplements such as DIM and Saw Palmetto, or an aromatase inhibitor prescription.
What if I have prostate enlargement already?
Testosterone pellets will make it better as long as you do not convert to DHT. We will treat it should that happen.
Will my testicles shrink while on testosterone pellets?
Yes, they will. Testicles are suppressed by taking any kind of testosterone. While the pellets are doing their job, testicles will not make as much testosterone. This is not permanent and the testicle retains its ability to produce testosterone.
